DO I NEED A AIRCARE TEST?

Vehicle model years 2002 and newer DO NOT require an AirCare test in 2008.  Model years 1992-2001 will require biennial tests at $45; 1991 and older will require annual tests at $23. Check your ICBC renewal letter to determine if you need to test or call our office.

The Burnaby (Wayburne) and South Surrey AirCare test centres are now CLOSED permanently. Certain vehicles such as motorcycles, collector cars, large motor homes do not require the test. For more information, visit
www.aircare.ca.

WHAT DO I NEED WHEN IMPORTING A CAR FROM OUT-OF-PROVINCE?

We will require the original Registration, Safety Inspection and possibly the Bill of Sale, Canada Customs Form 1 & B15 (if from the USA or foreign country), Claim History letters. Please call us to explain your situation and we will advise you of the proper procedure. More information is available at www.tc.gc.ca

I HAD A SMALL ACCIDENT AND THE OTHER DRIVER DOESN’T WANT TO REPORT IT TO ICBC, WHAT SHOULD I DO?

It’s always best to report the accident to ICBC even if you do not plan on making a claim. ICBC will assist you in settling in the loss with the other party at no cost to you. Beware of other drivers who tell you their “friend” can repair your car at a good price; usually the repair work is substandard.

CAN I MAIL IN MY RENEWAL?

Yes, if your renewal has no reductions in coverage & is not on a payment plan, simply sign the back of the ICBC Notice to Renew form authorizing us to sign on your behalf.

Forward this to us with your cheque payable to ICBC for the Estimated Amount Due.

We will contact you by phone to confirm the coverage & mail you the processed renewal decal.

If you prefer to pay by credit card, we will get your card number when we call you.

I'M OPERATING A BUSINESS FROM MY HOME; DO I NEED INSURANCE?

In most cases, yes.

Your home insurance does not provide any liability coverage and very basic property coverage for business equipment/ tools. A “home-business” rider can be added to cover the additional exposure or a separate business insurance policy can be obtained.

If you do not report the business operating from our home, it may void your home insurance coverage in the event of a claim.

MY HOT WATER TANK BURST AND MY BASEMENT IS FLOODED; WHAT DO I DO?

First, stop the water by shutting off the main water supply. Move property from the affected area to prevent further damage or raise furniture off the ground.

Call our office or your insurer directly; 24- hour assistance phone numbers are shown in the “Claims” section.

You may also contact a plumber or restoration company directly however, please note that you will be responsible for any expenses until an Adjuster can determine the cause of the loss and confirm coverage.

DO I NEED INSURANCE IF I’M JUST GOING SHOPPING OVER THE BORDER FOR THE DAY?

Definitely!

An injury or illness occurring “just over the line” will still be a huge expense. Simply call our office and we can issue a Travel/Medical plan for you in minutes. The Minimum premium is $16.

HOW DO CLAIMS AFFECT MY FUTURE PREMIUMS?

For home insurance plans, one claim seldom affects the future premiums although you may lose or receive a reduction in any claims-free discounts.

After two claims within a 3-year period, some insurers surcharge the premium by 10% or increase your deduction.
