Important message for homeowners……….
This winter, we are expecting the coldest winter in 20 years ! To avoid loss or damage to your home, please take these precautions:
- if you are away from your home for four consecutive days or longer, please drain and shut off your plumbing system, or have you home checked DAILY to ensure the heat is maintained. This is a condition on all homeowner insurance policies. If your heat shuts down for any reason while you’re away, and your pipes freeze and burst, it will not be covered on your insurance. You should also drain and shut off your outdoor taps as these can freeze whether you’re at home or not.
- if there are any roofs or structures that can collapse under the weight of snow or ice, clear the snow or ice from them before they fail.
- clear walkways of ice and snow to prevent “slip & falls”.
